The antioxidants include vitamins and phytochemicals such as polyphenols and here in particular the flavonoids. While the market potential for vitamins may have been largely exhausted, secondary plant substances are about to boom. For this reason and because of their physiological effects, they are already being referred to as the "vitamins of the 21st century".

Xanthohumol - a new dimension of antioxidant potential

Recently, scientific studies have shown the enormous potential of the xanthohumol contained in hops. In in vitro tests, for example, a preventive effect against a number of lifestyle diseases was observed. In particular, the high potential against cancer was surprising: In the MMOC test, the substance showed a 200-fold stronger effect against breast cancer than the resveratrol found in red wine. In further in vitro studies, xanthohumol was effective against more than 60 human cancer cell lines - at all stages of cancer development: from initiation, through growth, to metastasis formation. This makes xanthohumol one of the most promising antioxidants of all.
